DSC09464Enjoying the View

January 31, 2011

We were visiting John’s sister’s house (just a few miles away) during one of the latest snowstorms. What a wonderful feeling it is–sitting in the wood-stove heated house, drinking a cup of coffee and just…looking. Snow gracefully falling, giving it a magical feeling. The birds flit to the feeder enjoying their lunch. They scatter intoContinue Reading

DSC09276A Little Organization

January 30, 2011

I’m organizing my mind. It may take more than a simple wipeboard, but I’m on the right track–with this simple kitchen wipeboard. This is just a glazed platter I picked up this past summer I think from either a yard sale or the thrift shop–all of those purchases swim in my head sometimes. I can’tContinue Reading

DSC09540Canning Failure

January 28, 2011

And now. The Failure. That’s F.A.I.L.U.R.E! Miss Frugal here just couldn’t handle spending $7.78 for that 1 pound bag of Starbuck’s Espresso Roast Coffee and it not last forever. That’s why I roast my own coffee beans. That 1 pound bag will make 96 bottles of Mocha Frappuccino. This one-time purchase was for the sakeContinue Reading

DSC09226Paper, Rosettes & Beads

January 16, 2011

Rosettes are all over blogland–little ones, big chunky one, some made out of cotton, some made out burlap. They are absolutely adorable! After the hectic Craft Fairs and getting ready for Christmas, I was itching for something creative and crafty. I’ve gotten into beading and jewelry making lately, so I decided to put a fewContinue Reading

Mr. Bear with his tophatAfter the Storm

January 10, 2011

After the snow-globe affect has settled and we received 13 inches of snow… it truly is a beautiful site. Mr. Bear with his tophat. The snow falling off the fence.

DSC09263Snow Report

January 8, 2011

A week ago today, there was this. We got some snow back on Tuesday. But yesterday, it was snowing–snowing hard! At 1 in the afternoon, we had 8 inches out on the deck. At 9 o’clock last night and with it still snowing. That’s a lot of snow…when you’re looking forward to spring planting!

DSC09126Cocoa & Peppermint

January 7, 2011

Winter has returned to Michigan–there’s nothing like drinking Hot Cocoa with some leftover candy canes when it’s cold and all you see is falling snow. At Christmastime, I make a large batch of hot cocoa mix. A very large batch–about 11 pounds of it in fact. This 4 gallon jug is my cocoa canister–this batchContinue Reading

DSC09122Foaming Soap from Bar Soap

January 4, 2011

I’ve made and sold bars and bars and bars of soap. I have ends left–sort of like bread heels–that adorn our sinks. There are all sorts of flavors of soaps at the sinks. One of the drawbacks–the kids have issues when using the bar soap. I have to break the bars up so the kidsContinue Reading
