OLS at The Christmas Shop!

Posted in In the Store on Dec 21, 2011

The Christmas Shop is now open!

It’s located at 4437 W US Highway 10 in Ludington, Michigan right next door to Great Lake’s Ford Collision Center and across the street from Taco Bell.

The Christmas Shop is a newly opened store, created just for crafters (and shoppers, of course!) by Shaun and Karen Morrison, of Fountain, Michigan. It’s a year-round store (here in West Michigan we have many seasonal stores that are open just for the summer visitors) for the public to shop only handmade products, all in one spot, and not just during craft fair season.

The vendor numbers are growing steadily with a wide variety of crafts to choose from–soaps, bath products, photography, customized notecards from the area, bags, purses, candy, gift baskets for the season, American Girl Doll clothes, different crocheted and knitted items, customized ornaments, unique sun catchers, vintage-styled sewing kits, and probably more since I was up there.

Shaun and Karen own Hotte Latte in Ludington and will be moving their bulk coffee and chocolates to The Christmas Shop after the first of the year. They are a Lindt distributor now, too! When the summer season arrives, there will be an icecream bar added to an area of the store, also.

I started moving Our Life Simplified into the shop about 10 days ago now. I’ve added more inventory, recreated displays, and totally changed displays. I have dreams of how something would work easier.

There are changes going on in the building as we go, too. The flooring is being redone–the floor beneath my area. There will be new linoleum laid down. This was actually an old carpet and tile store where they must have had a really nice showroom showing off their creations and when they left, so did some of the tile. New signs are being made, too. But they wanted the store open. We can work around things :)

On one wall, I have my photos of the area, my Old Barn Collection and barnwood frames, and a large variety of soaps. (The tables will be leaving next week, I’ve had a brainstorm of a new soap display!)

In the front window, my displays of area notecards, altered domino necklaces and ribbon necklaces, crocheted facecloths, crocheted coasters (snowflakes at the moment), and bath teas, salts, and soaks.

I’m very excited about the opportunity to offer my creations in a storefront. My creative juices are flowing more than before!

If you’re in the area, stop in and see everything The Christmas Shop has to offer! If you’re a vendor in the area and would like to offer your crafts for sale, stop in and talk to Karen or Shaun!
